Swampscott Youth Lacrosse's Girls Select program provides players in grades 5/6 and 7/8 with an opportunity to challenge themselves through an additional level of competitive lacrosse.

And we're coming off an incredible season.

In 2026, both the Swampscott Girls 5/6 and Girls 7/8 Select teams won MYL State Championships!

We're excited to build on that success and provide another group of Swampscott players the opportunity to develop, compete, and represent SYL this spring.

What is Select?

Select is designed for players who want an additional competitive lacrosse experience and are ready to continue developing their skills, confidence, teamwork, and understanding of the game.

The Select experience includes:

• A seven-game regular season plus playoffs
• Primarily Friday evening games, both home and away
• Recorded scores and league standings
• Competition against strong programs from across MYL
• Additional opportunities for player development
• A competitive team environment focused on effort, improvement, and teamwork

For players who may be interested in club lacrosse in the future, Select can also introduce them to a more competitive lacrosse environment.

Select Supplements Classic

Select is an additional program, not a replacement for Classic lacrosse.

All Select players must also register for and participate on their SYL Classic team. Classic remains the foundation of the SYL program, while Select provides an additional opportunity for players looking for more competition and development.

Season Details

Teams: Girls 5/6 and Girls 7/8

Roster Size: Approximately 20 players per team

Games: Seven-game regular season plus playoffs. Games are generally played on Friday evenings, both home and away.

Practices: Select practices will likely be scheduled in coordination with Classic practices when possible, though additional or separate practice times may be necessary.

Registration Cost: $140

Commitment Matters

Select requires an additional commitment from players and families. Players are expected to consistently participate in practices and games and contribute positively to their team.

We understand that conflicts occasionally arise. At the same time, regular attendance is important to player development, team preparation, and the overall Select experience.

Playing Time

Select is a competitive program. Coaches will work to provide opportunities for all players, but playing time is not necessarily equal and may be influenced by skill development, effort, attitude, attendance, and game situations.

Participation in the evaluation does not guarantee placement on a Select roster.
