Swampscott Youth Lacrosse (SYL) is thrilled to share that we’re gearing up for another exciting Select League season this Spring for our 5/6 and 7/8 girls! To get started, we’re sending out an Interest/Evaluation Registration Form to help us shape our team structure for the season ahead.

When is the Player Evaluation?

We’re planning player evaluations in November, with a tentative date set for Sunday, November 9, at Blocksidge Field. The exact time will be shared once we’ve gathered feedback from the survey.

What is Select?

Our Select program is tailored for girls eager to enhance their skills and compete at a higher level. It includes a seven-game regular season, playoffs, and recorded scores. We’re looking to form a roster of about 20 dedicated players per team.

While the Classic League continues to offer plenty of great competition against neighboring towns, the Select program is designed for players who are ready to take their game to the next level. Select offers:

• A chance to play with and against some of the strongest players in the area

• An environment that helps kids develop their skills, confidence, and teamwork

• A first step for players who may be considering Club lacrosse in the future

Important: Select is a supplement to Classic League, not a replacement. All Select players must also participate in Classic.

To help us plan, we ask that you confirm your player’s availability/interest and complete the registration form by Sunday, September 21st. Because Select is a competitive opportunity, roster spots may be limited. If your player has a conflict and cannot attend the Select Evaluation on Nov 9, please inform us in the Survey Form or email us at swampscottyouthlax@gmail.com.

Practice and Game Schedule:

Practices will likely be held alongside the Classic Team on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, allowing for streamlined training for all players. Games will take place on Friday evenings, both at home and away.

Commitment is Key to our Success:

• Playing Time: While we aim to ensure that all players get game time, it’s important to note that coaches will determine playing time based on skill, attitude, and attendance. Playing time may not be equal.

• Attendance: Regular participation in practices and games is mandatory. Players should prioritize their commitment to the Select team over other extracurricular activities.

• Understanding Conflicts: We recognize that unforeseen conflicts may arise, such as religious obligations or family emergencies, but consistent attendance is crucial for the team’s cohesion and success.
